Scientists from the University of Townsville (Australia) found that flavors of certain plants are able not only to increase appetite, but on the contrary, help to reduce hunger and help in the process of losing weight.
The researchers conducted an experiment that includes 3200 women (age of 20-36 years) who suffer from obesity.
The rooms of half the participants were filled with roses, while other ladies had vases with wildflowers in their rooms. Scientists were exchanging flowers for new every day during two weeks.
The participants spent 3 hours a day in the room with flowers. The results of the work showed that those women who felt rose flavor daily had their appetite decreased. Thus, they observed faster weight loss. In addition, their daily diet was reduced to 1000 calories per day.
The head of research, Adrian Tantren, believes that rose flavor eliminates extra calories, due to its ability to activate the brain area responsible for feelings of hunger. In fact, flavor just tricks the body, giving it a false saturation.
