Analyzing the nutrients of blueberries researchers from the University of Leicester detected substances that can fight cancer cells.
Scientists have conducted an experiment and found out, that chemicals of anthocyanin, which give blueberries blue color, while penetrating into the tissues of the body, stop the growth of cancerous cells. Property of the coloring pigment promotes destroying one fifth of tumor cells, reported medicinform.net.
The researchers continue to work on it and are trying to separate some nutrients out of blueberries to create a drug for the treatment of liver cancer.
